Sanctuary Spa

The Sanctuary Spa brand was founded by the American choreographer Gary Cockerill in 1977. He wanted to create a safe, relaxing haven that his ballerina wife and her fellow dancers at the Royal Opera House could go to after a show to shake off tensions. Located in London's Covent Garden, its popularity soon grew, extending beyond the company of ballerinas and welcoming celebrities such as Joan Collins, Debbie Harry, Dame Helen Mirren, and Emma Thompson, among others. Before its closure in 2014, the spa helped around 64,000 women each year to unwind and treat themselves.However, this closure didn’t mean that Sanctuary Spa was finished – far from it. In 1988 the brand decided to release their own range of rich body washes, lotions, and scrubs so that you could get that five-star spa treatment in the comfort of your own home.
