Very strong and artificial smelling

I wanted so badly to love this gel. I love the idea of using sugar as a exfoliator, and have tried other, similar products that I quite liked.
The gel melted into my damp face really well, giving a very pleasant and gentle exfoliation. My skin felt lovely after and not overly dried out.
The smell however is overpowering and not pleasant. I expected a product like this, based on natural ingredients, to have a natural, more neutral smell rather then this very strong, very artificial scent.
