I bought this thinking that this would smooth my fingernails, buff and shine them but it doesn't have the option to shine them. It is great for smoothing the nail bed but you need to be careful as it can make your nail bed weaker if you use the coarse side too much or too often on your natural nails. It is brilliant tho for your toenails. Also be careful on your skin as when I first used this I was smoothing my natural nail and used this at the side and accidentally it was rubbing my skin and made my skin sore. When I saw that this was a buffer I automatically thought it would be like other buffers where you buff the nail and the other side it will smooth and shine the nail but it doesn't you will need another item to smooth and shine the nail. That tho is probably my own fault for not reading the details properly. The item lasts for ages and is absolutely fantastic on my toenails. I must admit I use this item more on my toenails than my fingernails. REMEMBER.....Be careful when using this not to get carried away and only use this item once a month especially on your fingernails (you can use it more often on your toenails if you are careful as toenails are normally thicker) otherwise you could damage your nails and using this item too much will make your nails thin, damage them and end up making your nails split.
